Beyond Hormones: Rethinking Menopause Symptoms in Modern Life

Did you know menopause symptoms are linked to fresh air, clouds, Monday … anything really if you look online.

You see an entire industry has evolved to keep you buying and trying solutions and stuff all the way from peri to post menopause.

Your newsfeed and the media headlines are full of urgency, pressure, false claims and fear mongering.

I'm seeing so much language and statements that just trigger health anxiety and reinforce low self esteem in women.

For example:

"Menopause nighttime cortisol spikes"

“Five things causing your Meno bloat”

"Inflammation - the menopause silent killer"

"How to blitz the meno belly"

Can I also add here that, in my experience, it's hard to tell the difference between the symptoms of perimenopause, menopause and other complex issues

📝 Functional neurological disorders (FND)

📝 Anxiety and chronic stress related illness

📝 Unprocessed trauma and emotional repression

📝 Human beings dealing with the greatest evolutionary mismatch of our time. Our normal is anything but!

📝 Long Covid

📝 And just natural aging

All the above can be associated with the symptoms below:

  • Brain fog

  • Pain

  • Anxiety

  • Fatigue

  • Sleep disruption and insomnia

  • Histamine intolerance

  • Bloating and gut issues

  • Joint dysfunction

  • Skin inflammation

  • Attention deficit disorder

  • Obsessive compulsive disorder

  • Low hormone levels

The health and wellbeing industry is stepping ever closer to the medical approach it often criticises.

It now offers products, protocols and more means of controlling or fixing the body - rather than listening to it.

Most interventions completely bypass the human being, lived experience and stories within that body.

What most people (regardless of menopause) truly need right now is:

1.      A simple resourcing routine with nutritious food, movement and adequate rest

2.      Connection to self, supportive communities, kind companions and nature

3.      Mindfulness education and awareness skills

4.      Compassionate, holistic health advice that doesn’t kick off their nervous or immune system even more.

Most clients I work with already know what is truly needed but need support in creating the foundations to step towards it.

So please, before you buy something else or double the dose of anything ... PAUSE and ask yourself:

“What do I really need in this moment?”

I think the answer is likely listed above and not found online.

If you are still battling symptoms and need some more personalised support you can book a discovery call here.
